Until 2012 Stephen Migdal, in his then capacity as Director of the Community Legal Advice and Representation Service (CLARS), supervised a free legal service at the court in Bristol in which trainee lawyers studying at the University of the West of England (UWE) assisted unrepresented litigants, primarily in family cases.
This is an area in which the Government has dramatically reduced the availability of public funding (legal aid), which has led to many people with family problems having to face the minefield of acting for themselves, i.e. acting as litigants in person.
Stephen Migdal and the Bristol Family Justice Chambers are dedicated to providing affordable access to an experienced family barrister, without having to use a solicitor as well.
